Location: Tecumseh is located in Moultonboro, New Hampshire, on the northern part of Lake Winnipesaukee. We are approximately two hours and fifteen minutes north of Boston and an hour and a fifteen minutes from the airport in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Enrollment: We enroll approximately 300 boys ages 8 to 16 throughout the summer. With our different sessions we have, on average, 190 campers in camp at any given time. With the storied history of our founders, and their connection to The University of Pennsylvania, just less than one third of our campers are from the Philadelphia area. Campers also come from throughout the US, including Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Montano, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Utah, Texas, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Massachusetts, Illinois and Rhode Island. European countries represented in camp enrollment in recent years include Belgium, France, England, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Scholarships: Financial aid is available for deserving campers and will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated need. Families requesting aid are asked to submit a copy of last year’s federal income tax forms so that the Financial Aid Committee can determine the need and make an appropriate grant.
Accreditation: Camp Tecumseh is accredited by the American Camping Association. Founded in 1903, it is one of the oldest private camps in the United States.
Facilities: Tecumseh boasts some of the finest sports facilities of any camp its kind and is the largest landowner on Lake Winnipesaukee with over three hundred acres, two islands and nearly two miles of shoreline Juniors and Intermediates live in cabins which house anywhere from 12 to 18 campers with three or four Counselors and usually a Junior Counselor. On the “senior campus” seniors live in tents, each of which hold up to six campers.
Transportation: Chartered bus service is available from Philadelphia with stops in Teaneck, New Jersey, and Darien, Connecticut. Domestic campers flying to camp will be met at the Manchester, NH airport, international campers should fly into Logan in Boston. There is a charge for any transportation service that camp provides. Many parents drive their sons. At the end of camp, there is no return charter bus to Philadelphia because most parents spend the last weekend in New Hampshire and attend the closing ceremonies which serve as our Parents’ Weekend.
Health Services: We have a full time certified nurse and a certified athletic trainer in residence. A local physician has regular office hours for our campers, and we have access to the Walk-In Clinic at Lakes Region Hospital in Laconia. We have our own infirmary on campus.
Staff: Most counselor/coaches have attended Tecumseh as campers. Many are currently student/athletes in colleges and universities around the country, and several are teachers and coaches in middle schools and high schools. A few on the senior staff have made a career of being Tecumseh team members, with several decades of service to their credit.
Administration: Tecumseh is a non-profit organization which is governed by a Board of Trustees who voluntarily serve the camp. Director, Doug Knight was a Teacher, Coach and Administrator at Haverford School for twelve years. Doug was a 3 x All American at U.Va. and has been a youth coach for many sports over the past seventeen years.
Huddle Groups: Each camper is assigned to a counselor/coach who serves as Huddle Leader. Huddles consist of between 4 and 6 boys who meet regularly to discuss goals and mutual concerns. The “Tecumseh team” concept begins with the Huddle. Each morning after breakfast, the entire camp gathers to help everyone get focused for the day and to remind us of our commitment to each other. Often a counselor will give us a thought for the day, and sometimes we just have a moment of silence to give us all a chance to clear our heads before we get underway. When we break the huddle, we all have a better sense of purpose and direction.
Guest Instructors: Frequently during the program, we invite the best high school and college coaches to work with our boys. We also invite college and professional players to share their experiences. Learning skills, technique and philosophy from these guest instructors enhances the excellent day-to-day training that the boys get in all camp activities.
Application Process: The application form must be completed, signed by the parents and returned with the specified deposit before a boy can officially be enrolled. We offer enrollment to returning campers first. New boys are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. We make every effort to accommodate siblings.
